Bringing communities and industries together

With funding from the North of Tyne Combined Authority, Challenge North Tyne brings communities and industry together to bring about solutions for healthy ageing, decarbonization of homes and 5G.

Challenge North of Tyne is an £800,000 open innovation project delivered by the North East LEP and Innovation SuperNetwork.

The project, funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA), aims to demonstrate the impact of mission-driven innovation through live challenges in areas that are top priority in terms of economic growth and social benefit as defined by UK Government and NTCA (including solutions to support happy, independent living for elder citizens, the decarbonisation of buildings, and the harnessing of 5G for industry).

The programme will define challenges that are a priority for our region and invite small and medium-sized enterprises based in the North of Tyne to respond with an idea for a solution. Successful ideas will receive up to £5k in prototype funding to develop impactful ideas, and take part in a co-design programme to rapidly develop and test solutions with end-users and potential customers.
